Familieverhalen in tapijten – De Vrolijkheid, kunstprojecten op het azc

Gezinnen die op dit moment in het asielzoekerscentrum in Utrecht wonen, verkennen samen met kunstenaar Avan Omar verschillende textieltechnieken voor wandkleden. Zo werd de rol van symbolen besproken en kwam de geschiedenis van tapijten aan bod. In volgende sessies werd geweefd, getufd en gedurende het proces met elkaar uitgewisseld en gegeten:

‘Om het groepsgevoel te versterken hebben we om de beurt gezorgd voor een heerlijke snack aan het einde van de workshop. Zo kwamen heerlijke persoonlijke gerechten op tafel en leerden we ook daarover. Hierdoor spraken we ook weer onbewust over identiteit door middel van een gerecht.’

Meesterschap Projecten
Deze workshop is onderdeel van Meesterschap Projecten, waarbij het ambacht of de toegepaste techniek eerst aan de ouders geleerd, waarna de ouders dit door kunnen geven aan hun kinderen. Op deze manier leren kinderen van hun ouders en ontstaat er een gezamenlijk proces. Gezinnen werken op die manier samen aan een ontwerp waarbij er veel ruimte is voor het eigen verhaal. De kunstenaar faciliteert, inspireert en begeleidt het proces - van ontwerp tot eindresultaat.
