De Vrolijkheid

De Vrolijkheid has reached the age of 20. We celebrate this with a national poster campaign:

‘We are the Vrolijkheid’

Young, talented asylum seekers’ asylum seekers present themselves with a series of colorful portraits. The posters can be admired throughout the Netherlands from 14 to 28 December 2020.

In collaboration with a professional team of photographers and stylists, the youngsters worked on their own art expressions. Together they developed artistic portraits and surreal images. During a three-day workshop at azc Rijswijk and azc Rotterdam, the youngsters created images to present themselves in an idiosyncratic way.

The photos, outfits and setting were developed in co-creation with photographer Petra Katanic and the stylists from Foei Productions. The posters are designed by Studio Harris Blondman.

Van 14 tot en met 28 december 2020 waren de posters door heel Nederland te bewonderen. In 2021 vinden er in het kader van deze serie verschillende exposities plaats, onder andere in samenwerking met de Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam en Framer Framed.

I have been making music for a while, I rap and write my own lyrics. I once tried to make a video clip, but wasn’t quite sure where to start.

After this workshop I became interested in styling & fashion, which is also important as an artist. By standing in front of the camera, photo and video you have to assume a kind of character and I thought that was a great experience.

I want to gain even more experience with filming and photography, so that I can bring out my music and my story even better. - Saïf

I really enjoyed participating in this project because it was organized so professionally. I’ve never done anything like this before and always thought I wanted to do something with sports later on. However, through this workshop I have discovered that I want to do something with photography or filming in the future. Or maybe even into the fashion world as a model. - Roni

De postercampagne is een uiting van de Beeld//Formers. Beeld//Formers zijn azc-bewoners in de leeftijd 15-25 jaar, die met zelfgekozen kunstdisciplines een eigen verhaal op een unieke manier presenteren. Dans, theater, muziek, nieuwe media en beeldende kunst zijn de instrumenten waarmee verhalen worden vormgegeven.

De Vrolijkheid is een netwerk van professionele kunstenaars, regelaars, vrijwilligers, kinderen, jongeren en ouders, die samen wekelijks meer dan 100 kunstprojecten op bijna 30 azc’s realiseren.
